Microsoft introduced autodiscover feature in exchange 2007. This feature lets you to auto configure outlook clients (2007 and above) internal and external.
It really helps to IT Managers to configure stations around the site and even outlook anywhere clients.
Here are the main keys to configure it correctly:

Know your CAS server external IP

Have a correct certificate

Configure your firewall

Configure DNS internal and external

In details:

Small business normally use one exchange server, in this situations your CAS server is using the office external IP.
In other situations like Medium and enterprise, you will have more than one exchange server and more than one external IP.
Anyhow, you need to know which external IP you use to apply autodiscover on it.

Very IMPORTANT: when creating a request for CA, make sure to have there the correct “Issue to”:
autodiscover.domain.com
autodiscover.internaldomain.local
Also, make sure you have there what you need, not just autodiscover. J

Configure your firewall:
you need the correct WAN interface to forward any 443 (https) connections to your CAS server.

Configure DNS:
If you ask me, I would say that these steps are prerequisite to install exchange server. But in all the searches I made for prerequisite, no one mentioned that you need correct DNS records to work with autodiscover.
1st we need to configure the internal DNS to work with autodiscover.
In normal situation, you have internal domain that is different from your external domain.
Go to DNS console management and create another Zone, primary zone with default settings that answer for autodiscover.domain.com.
Inside create a Host record that points to:
same as parent = your internal CAS Server IP address.
Create SRV Record that points to:
Service: _autodiscover
Protocol: _tcp
Weight: 100
Priority: 1
Port: 443
Host: %CASserver%.internaldomain.local

2nd you need to create DNS records at your ISP.
A Record that points to:
autodiscover.externaldomain.com = External IP
and SRV Record that point to:
Service: _autodiscover
Protocol: _tcp
Weight: 100
Priority: 1
Port: 443
Host: autodiscover.externaldomain.com

And now you are ready to go with autodiscover J

Hello,

In this post I am going to talk about few steps that you can take when you cant open outlook.
Outlook manages a DB file in two different ways, depends on his connection to the server: exchange (OST), POP3/IMAP (PST).

Here you will find different ways to troubleshoot outlook loading problems with PST DB file and POP3/IMAP account.

Outlook PST:

Investigate possible issues with add-ins
Open outlook with command: outlook /safe.
You can do it easily with pressing “Windows+R” and type it in the “run” box.
If outlook’s loading is fine then it is not added in`s.
You can disable add-on`s via options -> trust center (depend on outlook version!), there you will see “add in`s” menu.
Rerun outlook without safe and see if it is working.

Recreate configuration file
If it still crashes, you need to find outcmd and outprnt files and delete them, outlook will recreate them on next open.
On Windows XP you will find them via:
c:documents and settings%username%application datamicrosoftoutlook.
On Windows 7 you will find them via:
c:users%username%roamingmicrosoftoutlook.
There is no worry in deleting those files.
Rerun outlook and see if fixed.

1st mail view
You can also try to delete 1st mail and rerun outlook. Sometimes it is a bad mail and preview pain cannot load the mail and outlook crashes.

2nd outlook run in background
The 3rd thing you can try is to see if there is another process named “outlook.exe” inside “task manager”. If so, press
“end task” and rerun outlook.
If none of the above methods helped you, it means PST corrupt or program malfunctions. You can try these steps:
Use scanpst.exe to scan your PST files for errors.
Use microsoft updates for new updates that may solve the problem.
Repair installation of office, if it is a new office you can go to the control panel and under “add/remove programs”, find Microsoft office and press “change”. Then choose repair (some version may require installation CD).

Outlook OST:

Investigate possible issues with add-ins

Recreate configuration file

2nd outlook run in background

Recreate OST file (offline cashe mode)

Windows+R and type control and press enter.

Go to Mail (if you cant find it, change view to classic/small icons).

Choose correct profile and press double click on him.

Left click “E-mail Accounts…”

Press “Change…”

Unchecked”Use Cached Exchange Mode”

Then Press “More Settings…”

Go to Advanced

Press “Outlook Data File Settings…”

“Disable Offline Use”

Press “Ok”>>”Ok”>>”Next”>>”Finish”>>”Close”.

Reopen outlook

If none of the above methods helped you …
Use Microsoft updates for new updates that may solve the problem.
Repair installation of office, if it is a new version of office you can go to control panel and under “add/remove programs”, find Microsoft office and press “change”. Then choose repair (some version may require installation CD).
